Edwina Ellis is from Australia but has spent her professional life printmaking and designing in Britain.

Traditional and Experimental Techniques.

Edwina Ellis used linocut to design the Bridge series of four British one pound coins and an iPad for a new British two pound coin. For the new masthead of The Times she cut wood engravings on polymer and engraved nine three-block colour prints for a London Transport poster. See the Australian Prints page for how it is done. Edwina recently developed printing apparatus using laser-cutting technology and has pioneered engraving on homopolymer resins, but has also configured traditional wood engraving tools for Intaglio Printmaker London. She continues with research began during a Fine Art Practical PhD at Aberystwyth University, where she is a visiting lecturer.

Public collections with prints:

Victoria and Albert Museum London, the Ashmolean Museum Oxford, the Art Gallery of NSW, London Transport Museum, the Museum of London and the Royal Mint Museum. Edwina is a member of the Society of Wood Engavers and a Fellow of the Royal Painter Printmakers. See Contacts...
