
Born in Sydney, Edwina Ellis has spent
her professional life printmaking in Britain.
Her graphic design work executed with linocut and relief engraving includes the Bridge series of four British One Pound Coins, the new masthead of The Times
and a poster for London Transport.
She was awarded a Fine Art Practical PhD from Aberystwyth University in 2010, where she is currently a visiting lecturer. She has pioneered the use of acetal resin polymers for engraving and continues to research laser cutting and engraving homopolymer resins for relief printmaking. In 2005 she designed and configured a series of traditional relief engraving tools for the London printmaking suppliers Intaglio Printmaker. Public collections with prints include the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Ashmolean Museum Oxford, the Art Gallery of NSW, London Transport Museum and the Museum of London. Edwina became a member of the Society of Wood Engravers in 1984 and a FellowRoyal Painter Printmakers in 1986.
